One thing that I have noticed over the last few months is that there are more and more places selling figures and at very different prices. This can make it hard if you’re just starting out or are a seasoned World of Nintendo collector that can’t keep up on the latest developments. To help sort out what is available where and for roughly what price, I wanted to make a guide to help. Keep in mind that this guide is not meant to tell you the value of any figures, just what a retailer is selling them for and what World of Nintendo products they carry.
I shop for World of Nintendo figures in several places but I can’t keep up with all of the retailers that sell it now and so if you have information to share whether it is covered here and might be incorrect or it needs to be added, please let me know in the comments so I can update the guide and keep up to date for all of the World of Nintendo fans out there. I also talk a bit about my experiences hunting for World of Nintendo here in Ohio, I hope that the comments of this article can be a place where people share their strategies or where they have had the best luck with World of Nintendo. Hunting these figures is not easy and we have to stick together to find what we want! With that said, let’s take a closer look at who is selling World of Nintendo and for how much.

Toys R Us – The longest running seller of World of Nintendo has increased their prices a couple of times including a bigger jump more recently. They are now the most expensive of all retailers though I do find that they tend to stock things quicker than other retailers and some Toys R Us stores do have the best selection. Toys R Us carries 4″ and 2.5″ figures as well as Mario Kart toys. In the past they have carried 6″ figures and Micro Land though you may still find a Toys R Us with Micro Land stuff, all the ones around me have it on clearance and it isn’t selling. If you buy from Toys R Us often, make sure to get their rewards card which gives gift certificates for spending money in the stores and helps offset the higher prices just a bit.
World of Nintendo 2.5″ Figures – $6.99
World of Nintendo 4″ Figures – $12.99

Wal-Mart – Another place that has had World of Nintendo figures for quite some time is Wal-Mart. Initially, Wal-Mart carried an exclusive type of 2.5″ figures which basically had special packaging even if the figures were not necessarily new (pictured above). More recently, Wal-Mart has started carrying 4″ figures and it is possibly the only source for getting the Trophy Series figures which are also pictured above. Compared to Toys R Us, their prices are quite reasonable though I have very limited experience shopping at Wal-Mart and can’t speak to how good of a source they are about stocking new figures as they come out.
World of Nintendo 2.5″ Figures – $5.99? (If anyone can confirm, this please let us know!)
World of Nintendo 4″ Figures – $9.84
Meijer – I’m not sure how many Meijer are around the country though there are plenty here in Ohio where I live and they are an excellent place to shop for World of Nintendo. They stock a pretty good amount of figures and their prices are excellent. Meijer is inconsistent with stocking new waves which can be good and bad. They don’t usually get new stuff right away but if you miss a figure in an earlier wave, it is surprising how it often pops up at Meijer when you least expect it. If you have a Meijer near you, definitely try hunting World of Nintendo figures there because I have had great success there.

World of Nintendo 4″ Figures – $9.99

Walgreens – Much like WalMart, Walgreens has gotten its own World of Nintendo exclusives (pictured above) though some of these figures have been re-released at other retailers. I do not shop at Walgreens often but when I do, I try to take look at their World of Nintendo selection. It is often very limited (3-8 figures) and usually the stores near me only have figures that are old and not desirable. I’m sure other Walgreens are very different and some of their exclusives are well worth hunting down. Unfortunately, I do not know what their pricing is for World of Nintendo because it has been a long time since I have gone. If you know more about Walgreens, please let us know in the comments. I will try to check a local store soon myself since they have no information about it on their website.

Gamestop – A relative newcomer to stocking World of Nintendo, Gamestop has a lot of quirks to how they sell these figures. The first thing is that if you buy World of Nintendo 2.5″ or 4″ Inch figures online when they’re in stock, it is random what Gamestop will send you. This is a bit frustrating unless you’re just starting to collect World of Nintendo and want to be surprised. Gamestop also recently got an exclusive set of retro/8-Bit figures (pictured above) which were Walgreen’s exclusives so it has become a lot more interesting to visit Game Stop in the recent months. Most of the ones around me don’t stock very many World of Nintendo products but I’m sure in other places they do.

So there you have it. There are plenty of options for World of Nintendo even if that doesn’t always make hunting down these figures very easy. For the most part, your best bet is to visit the stores around you regularly to find the best stuff. Any figures that go up online are usually “scalper” priced outside of some auctions on Ebay. Often times the retail price is doubled or tripled which makes it not a very appealing option. World of Nintendo figures are equal parts fun and frustrating to hunt down and I hope this guide makes it easier to know what local stores carry World of Nintendo and for what price. If other retailers start to sell World of Nintendo, you can bet this guide will be updated too.
As I mentioned at the top of the article, please share your experiences with buying World of Nintendo and if you can help fill out this guide, that is much appreciated!

Excellent excellent guide Kuribo! Although I know about amiibo, I know next to nothing about World of Nintendo other than what you’ve posted about. This is a great guide, and especially timeline for the Christmas season! Thank you!
