If you’re a fan of figures then you might be aware that this weekend is New York Toy Fare which is where many of the biggest figure companies announce new figures. Jakks Pacific is no different and the collectibles site Entertainment Earth has leaked a picture of new figures coming our way which was fortunately spotted by Reddit user Blastoon_. While there aren’t necessarily a huge amount of surprises in this image, there is definitely enough to wet your appetite!
All of these figures look pretty solid though there is heavy reuse with the Mario and the Bowser Jr. figures. Could we see a Shadow Mario to go with the Mario Sunshine themed Bowser Jr.? That would be really exciting. It is a little disappointing that Inkling girl comes with the same gun as Inkling Boy. I also am concerned with how Lakitu looks. The seam in the cloud is very noticeable and his arms look cheap too. These are minor criticisms though and I’m really happy to be getting more Mario figures.
Since Toy Fare is just kicking off, it is almost a sure thing that there will be more announcements from Jakks and there have been rumors of other figures in this wave, including a “Classic Mario” which will be very interesting to see what that could be. No NFC chip means I don’t need to obsessively buy these 🙂 They look decent but they’re something I’m not interested in buying.

That makes sense. I enjoy messing around with these figures and taking pictures of them in particular. I’m finding that the more I get, the more fun they are to have because they build off of each other nicely. It is hard to keep up with World of Nintendo and Amiibo but I make sacrifices for the good of the website 😀

Any word on when we will see the new figures on shelves? I’ve been seeing just older figures for a while at our stores.

It is a great question! Way back when I wrote this article, I thought for sure we would see these figures everywhere in stores and it has not happened at all here in Ohio anyway. In fact, I wonder if these figures somehow got stocked early in some places before Jakks Pacific was ready to sell the full wave of figures everywhere and that is why there has been a delay since then. I hope this information helps and that you see these new figures in stores near you soon!
