E3 often feels like Christmas for video game fans and Amiibo collectors alike. Today is no exception. Nintendo revealed tons of new Amiibo and I’m excited to share the news and my opinions of these new figures with you!
Let’s start with the hottest game Nintendo has released in a while, Breath of the Wild. Nintendo is releasing four new Amiibo to represent the four champions in the game (Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa). Whether you’ve played Breath of the Wild or not, it is easy to appreciate these figures. Gorons and the Gerudos are staples of Zelda games and all of these figures look high quality in the somewhat dark and zoomed out pictures we’ve seen thus far. Nintendo has not dropped the ball on Amiibo quality very often since the early days so I see no reason to doubt the quality of these new Amiibo. While we don’t know when these come out yet, with DLC arriving in the summer, it is hard to believe we will have to wait long for these new Amiibo.
Next up we have Super Mario Odyssey which is probably the most hotly anticipated Nintendo game right now. Nintendo is never shy about making Mario Amiibo (though I’d love to see even more come out) and sure enough, we have some new and very cool Amiibo for this game as well. What a nice suprise those white suits are! Nintendo released some more detailed pictures of the Amiibo but for some reason, they cannot be converted into a normal image file but from I have seen, Bowser looks shiny and Peach has some nice details in her dress. I’m really looking forward to all of these Amiibo even Goomba and Koopa Troopa which are simple but overdue! The wait will be hard on though because these arrive in stores on Oct. 27.
I have praised all of the Amiibo so far in this article and the Metroid ones are not going to change this trend. Metroid has very limited Amiibo support thus far and so it is great to see Nintendo come up with two great designs here. To my knowledge, only premium figures like Figma capture Samus in that awesome kneeling pose and the Metroid looks like it will give the already released and cool-looking World of Nintendo figures a run for their money. I’ll be curious to see what the bases look like and it is nice that Nintendo will use another new base color. Metroid gives Nintendo an edgier franchise that appeals more to adults and I’m glad to see them take some chances with these figure designs. Metroid fans are going to be rewarded for their patience on Sept. 15!
Last but certainly not least, we have two new Fire Emblem Amiibo with a release date to be announced. Chrom and Tiki both look pretty nice and Fire Emblem has gotten great support from Nintendo recently. Outside of some eyes and faces not being perfect on a limited number of figures, most people seem to really like the Fire Emblem Amiibos. I don’t play many games in the series and probably won’t pick these up but that is only because I’m not a bigger fan of the games and not because the Amiibo don’t look awesome.
All in all, there are very few downsides to these Amiibo and there is something for everyone in the coming months. It is always nice to see Nintendo is still serious about Amiibo and I look forward to covering these figures on the site in the coming months.
What are your thoughts on the latest figures coming from Nintendo? Which ones are you most excited for and why? Let us know in the comments below!
I’ve been pretty detached from E3 in general this year, but I was highly anticipating an article from you detailing these new Amiibo I’d heard rumblings about online! These look amazing, and I’m looking forward to seeing them in more detail if/when you find them and review them.

Yeah, I haven’t been following it super closely either. I think it is because I’m building out and playing my new PS3 and video game collection for it so I’m less concerned about what is coming out. With that said, thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate that you turned to my site for your news coverage and I hope it pushes you closer to picking up an Amiibo or two in the future 🙂

Yes, so glad you wrote up about all the amiibo! I was able to preorder them all from Best Buy (though I think many of them are sold out now…) Great conference for amiibo! Bad day for our wallets! I’m most excited about the champions, squishy Metroid, and wedding outfit characters!

That’s awesome! I’m glad you got your preorders in and it is interesting that they seem to be in limited number just like other recent Amiibo releases. I need to preorder some of them when I can so I’m envious that you have peace of mind for all of the cool new Amiibo! 🙂
