New Mega Man Amiibo Up For Preorder

Some interesting news has surfaced today that Mega Man is getting a new Amiibo!  He will be one of the first “third party” Amiibo to get a repeat release of the same character (not counting the Gold Mega Man variant too of course).  Interestingly, it sounds like the Amiibo is going to be part of a bundle with Mega Man 11 and it is possible that this new Mega Man can only be purchased in the bundle.  The price is $60 which seems fair for a Switch game and Amiibo.  In what is sure to be divisive, the new Mega Man is a Gamestop exclusive which is available for preorder now!  Here is a look at the new Amiibo and bundle:

Thus far in 2018, almost all of the Amiibo are what I would call third party releases which means they come from non-Nintendo video game franchises and that is continuing with this new Mega Man.  It is interesting that Mega Man is getting so many Amiibo too.  It would seem Capcom and Nintendo have a strong relationship or the Mega Man Amiibo have sold really well in the past.  Whatever the case may be, it is nice to see a new pose for this venerable character.  I like how dynamic it is but am not sure how I feel about the addition of a stand that is fairly large.  The base design also looks interesting but possibly a bit bare.  I look forward to seeing more pictures of this Amiibo as I’m a bit on the fence if I will buy it since I’m not a fan of the video game franchise.  I am glad to see more Amiibo releases planned and really hope to see more news from Nintendo soon!

What do you think about this new Mega Man Amiibo?  Will you be buying it?  Why or not?  Let us know in the comments below!

  1. I’ve never really had the chance to play mega man but if this game gets good buzz I might well pick it up and if the amiibo (which does look nice) has good functionality in the game I might pick that up too.

    • I love platformers and I like some run and gun games like Metal Slug but for some reason, I just never found Mega Man games to be fun or well-balanced. I’ve only played two but neither one hooked me or made me want to beat it. With that said, I can definitely see why lots of people like it and I’d say give it a try and see if it is your cup of tea 🙂 I probably won’t buy this Amiibo if you have to get the game as well since I wouldn’t get a lot of mileage out of the game. I’m hoping that Nintendo releases the Amiibo on its own eventually.
